Hi there!

My name is Esther-Hope and I am a Cardiff-based coffee professional.

I had my first job in coffee at 14 years old and have been hooked ever since.

I have worked full time in coffee shops, in management positions and as a director and head of coffee at Manumit Coffee Roastery.

I have a BA from Sussex University where I did my dissertation in β€˜Can Supply Chains be Slavery Free?’ and I have a Professional Certificate in Leadership and Management from the Centre of Parliamentary Studies in London, focussing on Tackling Human Trafficking.

I am passionate about constantly learning, and find myself reading constantly and jumping on any course that comes my way to learn more. I will always find a way to take on an opportunity giving me a broad range of experience.

I became an AST trainer in December 2018 and a licensed Q Grader in February 2020 and I have SCA certifications in barista, brewing, roasting and sensory coffee skills.

I am a Public Value Entrepreneur in Residence at Cardiff Business School.

My passion is to connect people through the coffee industry, from crop to cup. I think it is so important for roasters to showcase the hard work of the farmers and producers in acing their roast profiles and bringing out the maximum potential of the coffee. The next priority is that the barista can extract the coffee properly to create delicious beverages to display the craft of the producers and roasters to the customer in the final product alongside outstanding customer service and knowledge of coffee.

Coffee should be a product that empowers people all the way through the supply chain and no-one is exploited, it should be given that farmers are paid enough to not only cover costs and living costs, but make a profit too, this gives me a unique and anthropological perspective on coffee training.
